The main goal of the project is to create a platform where teachers, supervisors end headmasters of tertiary educations can identify, develop and implement methods of "best practice" to reduce the number of early school leavers in the Oresund Region .
The project will thus provide instruments to help achieve a central goal of Europe 2020: "the share of early school leavers should be under 10% and at least 40% of the younger generation should have a tertiary degree."
In Oresund DK and Oresund SE it is a mutual problem that too many pupils leave the school without a tertiary degree. In Sweden 50% leave the school without a full degree whereas 14% leaves the school without at tertiary degree in Denmark.
The project will identify and further develop instruments and methods member countries of the project have developed to overcome the challenge of early school leaves. This will allow for identification of examples of best practice.
In a previous conducted micro project – PreDrop- five central cross competence themes, central to preventing early leavers, were identified. The themes were: Support of bilingual students, pedagogical methods, leadership, supervision and ways of supporting wellbeing of students.
The project is organized in three workpackages:
1) Research circles
Researchers and practitioners reflect and discuss a topic chosen by practitioners. All participates on equal terms. The aim of the activity is two-fold: It aims at testing the research circle as a means to solve practical problems concerning preventing early leaves and at the same time it aims as developing this methods further.
2) Program of competence and development
This activity seeks to identify and disseminate methods of best practice. By visiting other schools, observing other teachers and receiving training teachers and supervisors achieve competences to implement methods of best practice from the other countries.
3) Interdisciplinary network
The project invites experts, politicians and other practitioners to enrich the project with advice, information and support. The network will also disseminate knowledge and methods achieved in the project and sustain its results.
