Interreg and the EU
Cross-border cooperation in Europe can take many different forms. In the European Union, Interreg is one of the most important tools for cross-border cooperation through projects run by public and private partners. Interreg is thus a way for the EU to promote solidarity and cohesion in Europe.
The Interreg cooperation has existed since 1990 and Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerak is one of many Interreg programmes for the 2021-2027 programming period.
14 regions in Denmark, Sweden and Norway have identified societal challenges that exist in our geography and that Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak will help solve through co-financing.
The programme has been approved by the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian governments and by the European Commission.
